Chapter 10 - The Sovereign QueenThe sun was beginning to set, painting the Pacific Ocean in brilliant shades of violet, gold, and deep indigo.

The garden party was winding down. Little Mateo had finally fallen asleep, completely exhausted from a day of running, and the nanny had carefully carried him up to his nursery.
Don Mateo and Camila sat together on the veranda, watching the last golden rays disappear below the horizon.
“You know, Camila,” Mateo said softly, breaking the quiet evening air. “For a long time, I blamed myself. I thought that by letting you go, by respecting your wish to live an ordinary life, I had failed to protect you.”
Camila turned to her father, reaching across the small table to cover his aged hand with her own.
“You didn't fail me, Dad,” Camila said, her voice steady, clear, and filled with absolute conviction. “If I hadn't gone through that fire, I would never have discovered who I truly was. They thought they could break me. They thought that by locking me in a kitchen, hiding my phone, and beating me into submission, they could make me smaller.”
She squeezed his hand gently.
“Instead, they taught me how to roar. They taught me that true power isn’t about the family name you marry into, but the strength you carry within your own soul.”
Mateo looked at his daughter, seeing not just the little girl he had raised, but a sovereign queen who had conquered her own darkness and built an empire of grace and resilience.
He raised his glass of wine in a silent toast.
“To the survivors,” Mateo whispered.
Camila raised her glass, clinking it softly against his.
“To the queens.”

But here, high above the crashing waves of the ocean, under a sky full of brilliant, unending stars, Camila Silva smiled—free, unbreakable, and fiercely alive.
