Chapter 7 - A New DawnThe months that followed brought a profound healing to the Silva estate.

The nursery was painted in soothing shades of pastel blue and cream, filled with handcrafted wooden toys, soft cashmere rugs, and shelves stacked with children’s books. Every detail was meticulously prepared, not out of obsession, but out of a deep, overflowing love.

Camila spent her days walking through the expansive cliffside gardens, breathing in the salty ocean breeze, her strength returning tenfold with every passing week. Her body, once battered and exhausted, now glowed with the radiant health of impending motherhood.

Don Mateo had stepped down from the daily operations of his conglomerate, handing the reins to a trusted board of directors so he could dedicate every waking moment to his daughter and his soon-to-be-born grandson.

One afternoon, as Camila sat reading a book by the bay window, a soft knock sounded at the door.

Valeria Garza entered, holding a thick legal folder.

“Good afternoon, Camila,” Valeria smiled warmly. “I hope I’m not interrupting.”

“Not at all, Valeria,” Camila closed her book and smiled back. “Please, sit down. What brings you here today?”

Valeria pulled out a set of official documents and placed them neatly on the table.

“Two things. First, the final liquidation of all remaining Cárdenas properties has been completed. The proceeds, per your instructions, have been fully distributed to women’s shelters and domestic abuse survivor networks across the country. In your name.”

Camila’s smile widened. “Thank you, Valeria. That’s exactly what I wanted.”

“Second,” Valeria continued, sliding a second document forward, “this is the final decree regarding your son’s birth certificate and legal guardianship. Because of the federal conviction and the formal relinquishment of parental rights signed by your ex-husband’s legal representation, Sebastián Cárdenas has zero legal standing. Your son will bear the Silva name as a middle name, and your maternal lineage is completely protected.”

Camila picked up the pen. For the first time in her life, signing her maiden name didn't feel like hiding from her past; it felt like wearing a crown.

She signed the papers with a firm, elegant stroke.

“It’s officially finished,” Valeria whispered softly.

“No,” Camila corrected her, looking out toward the horizon where the sun was beginning to set in a blaze of gold and crimson. “It’s officially just beginning.”
