Chapter 8 - The Weight of a NameWinter arrived on the coast, bringing brisk winds and dramatic, crashing waves against the cliffs.

Inside the Silva estate, however, the house was filled with warmth, laughter, and the soft, melodic ticking of grandfather clocks.
It was late December when Camila’s contractions began.
There was no panic this time. No frantic scrambling, no screaming, no fear. Within minutes, a private medical team—the absolute best specialists in the country—was assembled in the specially prepared maternity suite on the estate's ground floor.
Don Mateo paced nervously outside the double doors, his hands clasped behind his back, murmuring silent prayers to a God he hadn’t spoken to in decades.
“Calm down, Mateo,” Valeria chuckled softly, sitting in a nearby armchair. “Your daughter is a fighter. She survived the worst hell imaginable; bringing a new life into this world will be a triumph.”
“I know, I know,” Mateo sighed, running a hand through his silver hair. “I just... I want them to be safe.”
A few hours later, a sharp, healthy cry echoed down the hallway.
The double doors swung open, and the lead obstetrician stepped out, a tired but triumphant smile on his face.
“Congratulations, Don Mateo,” the doctor announced. “Mother and baby are both healthy and strong. You have a grandson.”
Mateo let out a breath he felt he had been holding for months. He walked into the room, his eyes shining with tears.
Camila was propped up against a pile of soft pillows, her face pale but glowing with an ethereal light. Cradled in her arms, wrapped in a blanket of the finest white silk, was a tiny, perfect baby boy with a full head of dark hair and tiny, balled fists.
“Look at him, Dad,” Camila whispered, her voice thick with emotion.
Mateo leaned over the bed, gently touching the baby’s tiny cheek. The infant stirred, letting out a soft sigh, and instinctively grasped Mateo’s weathered finger with his miniature hand.
“He has your eyes, Camila,” Mateo choked out, kissing his daughter’s forehead. “What are you going to call him?”
Camila looked down at her son, feeling a fierce, unbreakable love surge through her veins—a love that would protect him from every shadow in the world.
“Mateo,” she said softly. “Mateo Sebastián Silva.”

Her father blinked in surprise, then let out a deep, rumbling laugh of pure joy. “Sebastián?”
“Not for him,” Camila smiled, her eyes gleaming with quiet strength. “To remind us both that out of the ashes of the past, a new, unbreakable strength was born.”
