Chapter 12 - The Siege Of The Penthouse“Never,” I snarled, adrenaline suddenly overriding every ounce of maternal terror. Instead of shrinking back, I planted my feet firmly on the nursery floor, shielding AJ with my entire body.

Viktor’s face twisted into an ugly, furious mask. “You think you have a choice? When Alexander gets back, he’ll find an empty crib and a pool of—”
Bang.
A sudden, deafening gunshot echoed through the penthouse—but it didn't come from Viktor’s gun.
The heavy oak door of the nursery burst wide open off its reinforced hinges. Standing in the threshold was Alexander.
He wasn't wearing his usual immaculate tailored suit. He wore a crisp black shirt with the sleeves rolled up to his elbows, revealing corded muscles and a jagged, fading scar across his forearm. In his right hand, he held a sleek, customized SIG Sauer pistol, smoke lazily curling from the barrel.
Behind him, three members of his elite private security team flooded the hallway, neutralizing Viktor’s two tactical operatives in a matter of seconds with lightning-fast, silent takedowns.
Viktor spun around, his eyes widening in absolute shock as he realized he had walked straight into a trap.
“Alexander,” Viktor gasped, trying to swing his gun barrel toward my husband.
It was a fatal mistake.
Before Viktor’s finger could even twitch against the trigger, Alexander fired with terrifying, cold precision. The bullet caught Viktor squarely in the shoulder, spinning the Russian syndicate boss around and sending his weapon clattering across the floor.
Viktor screamed, clutching his bleeding shoulder as he collapsed hard onto his knees.
Alexander didn't hesitate. He crossed the room in three massive strides, grabbed Viktor by the collar of his tactical vest, and hoisted him up into the air with one hand, slamming him violently against the remaining intact wall.
“You pathetic piece of trash,” Alexander whispered, his voice vibrating with a lethal, terrifying rage that made the air in the room feel unbreathable. “You thought you could slip past my perimeter? You thought you could touch my wife and my son?”
“A-Alexander… wait… it was just business…” Viktor choked out, blood pooling at the corner of his mouth as Alexander’s grip tightened mercilessly around his throat.
“Business?” Alexander’s dark eyes flashed with pure demonic fury. “There is no business here. There is only survival. And you just signed your death warrant.”
With a swift, brutal motion, Alexander slammed Viktor’s head against the wall, rendering the syndicate boss instantly unconscious. He dropped Viktor’s limp body onto the floor like a sack of garbage and immediately turned his attention toward me.
In an instant, the cold, ruthless apex predator vanished. Alexander crossed the room, dropped to his knees in front of me, and pulled both AJ and me into his massive, shaking arms.
“Are you hurt? Did he touch you? Did he say anything to you?” Alexander asked frantically, his hands trembling as he checked every inch of my body for injuries.

“We’re okay, Alexander. We’re safe,” I wept softly into his shoulder, breathing in his familiar, grounding scent. “You came just in time.”
“I will always come for you,” Alexander vowed fiercely, kissing the top of my head and pressing his face against our son’s hair. “No one will ever breach this house again. I swear it on my life.”
