CHAPTER 1 — "SHE TOUCHED MY WIFE... BESIDE MY SON."

The first scream wasn't my wife's.
It was my mother's.
"No woman like YOU deserves to raise my grandson!"
The words echoed through the marble hallway only seconds before a loud crash shattered the silence inside the nursery.
Emily Carter hit the hardwood floor so hard that the rocking chair tipped over beside her.
Her long chestnut hair was still trapped inside Margaret Whitmore's clenched fist.
Emily cried out in pain.
Her hands instinctively covered her stomach, even though she had already given birth three weeks earlier.
Only a few feet away...
Their newborn son slept peacefully in his white bassinet.
Completely unaware that his entire family was falling apart around him.
Margaret yanked Emily's hair again.
"You trapped my son with that baby!"
Emily gasped.
"No... please... you'll wake him..."
"Oh, I hope he wakes up!" Margaret shouted. "He deserves to know the kind of woman his mother really is!"
Tears rolled down Emily's face.
She had spent three years trying to earn Margaret's acceptance.
She cooked every holiday dinner.
She remembered every birthday.
She visited every hospital appointment after Margaret's heart surgery.
She even left her own career as an architect because Margaret insisted that "real wives stay home."
Nothing was ever enough.
Not when Emily came from an ordinary family.
Not when Margaret had dreamed of seeing her billionaire son marry into another powerful dynasty.
The baby suddenly stirred.
A tiny cry escaped the bassinet.
Emily immediately reached toward him.
Margaret slammed her hand across Emily's shoulder.
"Don't touch him!"
Emily froze.
"You've done enough damage."
The nursery door remained closed.
No servants dared intervene.
Everyone in the mansion had learned long ago...
Never stand between Margaret Whitmore and her anger.
Margaret leaned closer.
Her expensive diamond earrings sparkled under the nursery chandelier.
"You think giving birth makes you part of this family?"
She smiled coldly.
"I can erase you with one phone call."
Emily's breathing became uneven.
She wasn't afraid for herself anymore.
She was terrified Margaret might grab the baby next.
Then—
Footsteps.
Heavy.
Fast.
Running.
Someone was coming.
Margaret didn't hear them.
She raised her hand again.
This time...
She intended to slap Emily across the face.
But the slap never landed.
A powerful hand caught Margaret's wrist in midair.
The room fell completely silent.
Margaret slowly turned.
Standing behind her...
Still wearing his business suit...
Eyes burning with fury...
Was her son.
Nathan Whitmore.
For the first time in his life...
He looked at his mother like she was a complete stranger.
"What..."
His voice was frighteningly calm.
"...did you just do?"
Margaret tried to smile.
"Nathan... she was disrespecting—"
He shoved her backward so forcefully she stumbled against the nursery dresser.
"Don't."
His voice thundered through the mansion.
"Say."
Another step forward.
"One."
Another.
"More."
Final step.
"Word."
Emily had never seen her husband like this.
Neither had Margaret.
Nathan immediately knelt beside Emily.
His hands trembled as he gently brushed strands of hair away from her bruised face.
"Did she hurt you?"
Emily couldn't answer.
She simply burst into tears.
Nathan looked at the red marks around her scalp.
Then at the overturned rocking chair.
Then at the bassinet.
His newborn son had begun crying.
Nathan picked up the baby first...
Then wrapped one protective arm around Emily.
Finally...
He looked directly into his mother's eyes.
"If either of them had been injured..."
He paused.
"...you would never have seen me again."
Margaret laughed nervously.
"You can't be serious."
Nathan reached into his jacket.
Pulled out his phone.
Pressed one number.
"Daniel?"
A voice answered instantly.
"Yes, Mr. Whitmore."
Nathan never took his eyes off Margaret.
"Cancel every financial authorization connected to Margaret Whitmore."
Margaret's smile disappeared.
"What are you doing?"
Nathan continued calmly.
"Freeze every trust account."
Margaret's face turned pale.
"Nathan..."
"Revoke her company access."
"Nathan, stop this nonsense."
"And change every security code in the mansion."
Silence.
Margaret suddenly realized...
This wasn't a threat.
He was actually doing it.
But what she didn't know...
Was that Nathan had discovered something far worse before coming home.
Something hidden inside the family accounts.
Something that suggested today's attack...
Was only the beginning.
May you like
And by sunrise...
One member of the Whitmore family would be leaving the mansion forever.
