Chapter 15 - Confrontation at Talon Tower

The sleek, glass-and-steel lobby of Talon Tower—which I had officially rebranded as the Cambridge-Voss Corporate Center—looked pristine from the outside, but the rot inside ran deep.

I stormed past the security desk, Miller right behind me, and took the private executive elevator straight to the 45th floor.

The double doors to the executive suite pushed open with a sharp click.

Henderson sat behind the massive mahogany desk, casually sipping a scotch while looking out over the Boston skyline. He didn't even flinch as I walked into the room, slamming my hands down on the polished wood surface.

"Going somewhere, Henderson?" I asked, my voice dangerously low.

Henderson took a slow sip of his drink, setting the glass down before looking up with a cold, mocking smile. "Ah, Mr. Voss. I was wondering when you’d figure it out. Took you long enough."

"You planted those wire transfers in Clara’s name," I snarled, leaning across the desk. "You tried to frame her."

"I didn't try, Julian. I succeeded," Henderson laughed softly. "The federal investigators already have the dossier. By midnight, your wife will be facing federal money laundering charges, your foundation will be seized, and everything you built will crumble."

Before Henderson could finish his sentence, I lunged across the desk, grabbing him by the lapels of his tailored suit and slamming him against the wall behind his chair.

"You touch my family, and I swear to God, prison will feel like a five-star hotel compared to what I’ll do to you," I hissed in his ear.

"Go ahead... hit me," Henderson choked out, a sadistic grin spreading across his face. "Assaulting an officer of the corporation. That’ll look great on the front page of the Boston Globe right next to your wife’s indictment."

Slowly, deliberately, I let go of his jacket, stepping back and straightening my cuffs. I pulled my phone from my pocket and tapped the screen, hitting speakerphone.

"Did you catch all of that, Miller?" I asked loudly.

From the doorway, Miller stepped out of the shadows, holding a portable audio-recording device with a blinking red light, flanked by two federal agents in dark windbreakers.

Henderson’s smug smile instantly evaporated. The color drained from his face as he stared at the federal badges.

"Mr. Henderson, you have the right to remain silent," one of the agents recited smoothly, stepping forward and clicking heavy steel cuffs around the CFO’s wrists.
