Back at Fort Belvoir, Major Kevin Torres stood before the main tactical display in the cyber operations center. The room was bathed in the cool blue glow of dozens of monitors tracking data streams across the globe.
"General, we have a bite," Torres announced, his fingers flying across his console. "The mirror-server decoy package was accessed four minutes ago from an IP address routed through a residential proxy in Arlington, Virginia. They didn't just look at the files—they downloaded the entire archive."
Tessa stood behind him, her arms crossed over her chest, her dark eyes fixed on the geographic tracking software as it triangulated the incoming signal. "And the origin point?"
"Tracing... tracing... got it," Torres smiled grimly, hitting a key to pull up satellite imagery and local dispatch maps. "The physical hardware is located inside a secure server room at Apex Global Logistics—the parent shell company that employed Jessica Vance."
"Coordinate with the FBI’s cyber division and the military police," Tessa commanded, her voice ringing with absolute authority. "Execute a simultaneous raid on the Arlington facility and the downtown corporate offices. Do not let them scrub a single hard drive."
"Yes, ma'am!" Torres barked, immediately relaying the orders to the strike teams standing by.
Within twenty minutes, tactical units were rolling out of the Fort Belvoir motor pool, sirens willed silent until they reached the perimeter of the Apex Global facility. Tessa watched the live drone feed from her desk at the estate. The thermal imaging showed several individuals frantically moving server racks and attempting to burn physical hard drives in an outdoor incinerator before the federal agents breached the perimeter doors.
"Too late," Tessa murmured as the heavy steel doors of the warehouse blew inward under a synchronized charge, and federal agents flooded the corridors, subduing the operatives before they could destroy the evidence.
