Chapter 2 - The Mansion Belongs to Whom?

The morning after the disastrous dinner, the Vance family woke up to a nightmare. The live stream had gone viral globally. #VanceFamilyExposed was trending #1 on every major social media platform. The stock prices of Vance Enterprises dropped by 35% in three hours.
"Fix this, Richard! Fix this right now!" Eleanor screamed, throwing a porcelain teacup at the wall. "Call the PR team! Tell them Evelyn is mentally unstable!"
"I can't, Eleanor!" Richard panicked, sweating through his custom suit. "The board of directors is calling an emergency meeting! The investors are pulling out because Mia's debts were leaked to the financial press!"
Mia ran into the room, hysterical, holding her phone. "Mom! The loan sharks just texted me! They saw the video! They know Evelyn won't pay my $500,000, and they said they're coming to take the luxury cars and this mansion!"
"Let them try!" Eleanor barked arrogantly. "This mansion has been in the Vance family for three generations! It’s worth $25 million! No one can touch this house!"
Suddenly, loud thuds echoed through the grand foyer. Heavy boots slammed against the marble tiles.
Four men in sharp dark suits walked in, accompanied by two armed sheriff deputies and a man carrying a leather briefcase.
"Eleanor Vance?" the man in the lead asked sternly.
"Who the hell are you to barge into my private residence?!" Eleanor roared, standing tall. "Guard! Security!"
"Your security guards have already been dismissed, ma'am," the man said calmly, handing her a thick stack of legal documents. "I am Marcus Sterling, chief legal counsel for Phoenix Holdings. I am here to serve you an eviction notice."
"Eviction notice?!" Mia yelled. "Are you insane? My family owns this property!"
Marcus Sterling smiled coldly. "Correction, Miss Vance. Your family mortgaged this mansion six years ago to fund Vance Enterprises' failed expansion in Europe. The mortgage was bought out three months ago by Phoenix Holdings. And as of 9:00 AM today, due to non-payment of the secondary loan interest, the deed has been officially foreclosed."
Eleanor gasped, her lungs seizing. "No... no! Who is Phoenix Holdings?! I'll buy it back! I'll pay whatever it costs!"
"Phoenix Holdings is a private conglomerate," Marcus replied smoothly. "And the CEO has explicitly ordered that you, your husband, and your younger daughter vacate these premises within two hours. Otherwise, the deputies will remove you by force."
"Who is the CEO?!" Richard pleaded, dropping to his knees. "Please, tell us who bought our home!"
Marcus stepped aside as a sleek, matte-black Bugatti pulled up into the driveway outside. The door swung open.
High heels clicked on the wet pavement.
