Chapter 6 - The Face of BetrayalThe photograph on the encrypted tablet showed Marcus Vance—Vincent’s chief financial officer and legal counsel of fifteen years—sliding a miniature micro-sd card into his cufflink while standing over Vincent’s private desk.

Vincent stared at the screen, his face entirely expressionless. There was no shout of rage, no violent outburst. Just a dead, suffocating silence that made the medical room feel like a vacuum chamber.

"Marcus," Vincent said softly, the name tasting like poison.

"He booked a private flight out of Lakehaven Municipal Airport forty minutes ago," Daniel reported, his jaw clenched so hard a muscle twitched in his cheek. "His private jet is currently airborne, heading toward a private airstrip in the Cayman Islands. He’s been selling our logistics data to the Iron Cross Cartel for over a year."

Vincent handed the tablet back to Daniel. He slowly turned his head to look back at Noah, who was now quietly talking and drawing pictures with little Lily at the corner of the medical table, completely shielded from the violent storm brewing around them.

"Get the interceptor jet ready," Vincent ordered, his voice dropping into the lowest, darkest register of pure ice.

Daniel blinked. "Boss, the Cayman Islands are outside our jurisdiction. The federal authorities—"

"I am not sending federal authorities," Vincent interrupted, turning to face Daniel with eyes that burned like dying stars. "I am going myself."

"You can't leave the Sanctuary right now!" Daniel protested, stepping forward. "The cartel knows Ethan is alive. If you fly out of the country, they’ll launch a coordinated assault on this facility before your plane even reaches cruising altitude!"

Vincent walked past Daniel, stopping at the door. He turned his head slightly, his profile hard as granite.

"Let them come," Vincent said quietly. "I’ve spent six years looking for my son in the dark. Now that I have him back, anyone who tries to take him away from me is going to learn why they call me the Ghost of Lakehaven."

He tapped his earpiece. "Prepare my bird. Ten minutes."
