CHAPTER 6 – “The Princess the Kingdom Was Ordered to Kill”

The gunman’s finger tightened on the trigger.

Emily stood frozen.

She knew there was nowhere left to run.

Then—

A deafening burst of automatic gunfire echoed through the palace.

The lights went out.

Darkness swallowed the corridor.

“Move!” Sheikh Zayed shouted, grabbing Emily’s hand.

A team of loyal Royal Guards stormed the hallway through a hidden passage known only to the old advisor.

“Protect His Highness!”

Bullets flew in every direction.

The attackers, disguised as palace security, were caught completely off guard.

Within seconds, the underground vault became a battlefield.

The gang’s leader cursed as he realized they had lost the element of surprise.

“Retreat!”

“But take the girl!”

Two masked men lunged toward Emily.

Before they could reach her, the old advisor stepped between them.

He was seventy-eight years old.

He never carried a weapon.

Yet he raised an ancient ceremonial sword that had hung inside the vault for generations.

“For fifty years,” he growled,

“I protected this family.”

“Tonight…”

“I keep my promise.”

The attackers hesitated just long enough.

Royal Guards surrounded them from both sides.

One by one, the gunmen surrendered.

Only their leader escaped through a collapsing tunnel.

As silence returned, Sheikh Zayed turned to the surviving attackers.

“Who hired you?”

None of them answered.

Until one young man finally lowered his head.

“We weren't hired…”

“We were ordered.”

“By whom?”

The soldier looked directly at Emily.

Then whispered three words.

“His Majesty himself.”

Every guard in the room went pale.

The King.

The attack hadn't been carried out by rebels.

It had been ordered from the throne.

Sheikh Zayed refused to believe it.

“My father would never order the murder of his own granddaughter.”

The captured soldier laughed bitterly.

“You still think she's the target?”

He slowly looked at the wounded Sheikh.

“No…”

“You are.”

The room fell silent.

“The King knows the truth is already out.”

“As long as you're alive…”

“…you can challenge his crown.”

The old advisor suddenly remembered something.

He rushed back to the wooden chest inside the vault.

Hidden beneath the false bottom was another sealed envelope.

Across the front, in the late King's handwriting, were the words:

“Open only if my son chooses truth over blood.”

Inside was a royal decree bearing the original King's seal.

It declared that if the missing granddaughter was ever found, the current monarch would immediately lose all claim to the throne, and the Royal Council—not the King—would determine the lawful successor.

The old advisor looked up in horror.

“This…”

“This is why he stole Emily.”

“This was never about inheritance.”

“It was about protecting his own crown.”

At that exact moment, alarms echoed throughout the palace.

A royal broadcast interrupted every television and phone across the kingdom.

King Hassan appeared on screen, his expression cold and composed.

“My loyal citizens…”

“A terrorist group has infiltrated the Royal Palace.”

“They have kidnapped my son…”

“…and abducted a young woman falsely claiming to be my granddaughter.”

Then he leaned closer to the camera.

His voice became icy.

“Effective immediately…”

“Anyone who shelters Emily Carter will be charged with treason.”

Across the kingdom, millions watched in silence.

Emily had gone from an unknown maid…

to the most hunted woman in the nation.
