Chapter 2 - The Secret Ledger

The revelation shattered the room's carefully maintained decorum. Whispers erupted like gunfire.

Tomas Falcone. The younger, rebellious brother who had reportedly turned his back on the family empire to live a quiet life under an assumed name. The man whose death at the harbor eight months ago had been ruled a tragic slip-and-fall accident.

Nadia looked up, her tear-stained eyes wide with shock. She had known her husband as Tomas Petrova, a quiet, hardworking man who loved her. She had never known his real last name. She had come to this mansion seeking answers about his "accident," but she had never dreamed the man who owned the estate was her husband's own flesh and blood.

"That's a lie!" Bianca screamed, her voice cracking with desperation. "Tomas died a nobody! He was a harbor rat! You're making this up to humiliate me!"

Lucas didn't argue. He reached into his breast pocket and pulled out a sleek, black leather-bound folder. He tossed it onto a nearby champagne table. The impact knocked over a crystal flute, sending sparkling liquid splashing across the wood.

"Open it, Gino," Lucas commanded.

Gino stepped forward, opened the folder, and pulled out a single sheet of paper. It was a certified DNA report, paired with a marriage certificate bearing Tomas’s real signature and Nadia's name. But beneath those papers lay a second, encrypted digital drive and a series of bank statements.

"For the past three months," Lucas said, his eyes drilling into Bianca, "I have been tracing the funds that paid off the harbor guards on the night my brother died. I traced the shell companies. I traced the offshore accounts."

He took another step closer to Bianca, who was now trembling.

"And do you know where those accounts led, Bianca? They led directly to the Rossi family trust. Specifically, to an account managed by you."

The ballroom went dead silent again.

"You killed my brother because you found out he was the rightful heir to thirty percent of the Falcone shipping docks," Lucas said, his voice terrifyingly calm. "You wanted to ensure that when we married, there would be no other bloodline to contest your children’s inheritance. And tonight, you publicly assaulted his pregnant widow."

Bianca shook her head, her eyes wild. "No... Lucas, it’s a setup! My father wouldn't—I wouldn't—"

"Gino," Lucas interrupted, turning his back on his fiancée. "Remove her. Take her to the holding rooms downstairs. And call her father. Tell him the alliance is dead, and the war has just begun."
