CHAPTER 6 — Noah's Final Words Exposed the Greatest Lie of All

"Noah!"

Amanda screamed as she pressed both hands against the blood soaking through his shirt.

"Stay with me! Please!"

Noah coughed, forcing a weak smile.

"I'm... okay..."

But everyone knew he was lying.

Detective Harris returned fire while his team rushed Amanda and the boys behind a concrete wall.

The orphanage echoed with gunshots.

Glass shattered.

Children cried.

Then...

Silence.

The shooters were gone.

Only one thing remained.

A black envelope lying in the middle of the hallway.

Across the front were six words.

YOU CAN'T ESCAPE YOUR REAL FAMILY.

Paramedics fought to save Noah's life during the ambulance ride.

Amanda held his hand the entire time.

"You promised we'd have another birthday together," she whispered.

"You promised."

Noah opened his eyes.

"They didn't mean to kill me..."

Amanda frowned.

"What?"

"They wanted... to stop me from talking."

His heartbeat slowed.

"There wasn't just one hospital..."

"There were dozens..."

Amanda froze.

Dozens?

Noah squeezed her hand one last time.

"They didn't steal children..."

"They manufactured heirs."

His heart monitor suddenly let out one long, terrifying tone.

BEEEEEEEEEP...

Amanda's world shattered.

Doctors rushed in.

The doors slammed shut.

Minutes felt like hours.

Finally...

The surgeon stepped outside.

"He survived."

Amanda collapsed into tears.

The bullet had missed Noah's heart by less than an inch.

For the second time in her life...

She almost lost her son.

Meanwhile...

Adrian opened the black envelope.

Inside was a flash drive.

Detective Harris plugged it into a secure laptop.

A video began playing.

A younger Richard Carter appeared on screen.

He looked terrified.

"If you're watching this..."

"I'm already dead."

Amanda couldn't believe her eyes.

Richard continued.

"I never wanted children to be taken."

"I only wanted money."

"But once I joined the Guardians Foundation..."

"There was no way out."

The screen changed.

Hidden surveillance footage appeared.

Rows of newborn babies.

Different hospitals.

Different cities.

Each infant received a new identity before leaving the building.

Amanda covered her mouth.

"Oh my God..."

Richard's voice continued.

"They weren't kidnapping children for ransom."

"They were replacing them."

Every room fell silent.

Children of billionaires.

Politicians.

Judges.

Business leaders.

Real heirs disappeared.

New babies took their place.

An invisible empire had been controlling powerful families for decades.

Then Richard looked directly into the camera.

"If Amanda ever finds this..."

"I'm sorry."

"I lied about one thing."

"The third child..."

"...was never yours."

Amanda stared at the screen in disbelief.

"No..."

Richard continued.

"The doctor made a mistake during delivery."

"Your third baby died within minutes."

"We buried him."

"The child called Adrian..."

"...was placed in his crib the same night."

Amanda's knees gave out.

She looked toward Adrian.

He stood perfectly still.

His face showed no anger.

No sadness.

Only emptiness.

"So..."

he whispered,

"I spent thirty years searching for a mother..."

"...who was never mine."

Tears rolled down Amanda's face as she slowly walked toward him.

"I don't care whose blood runs through your veins."

"You grew up believing you were my son."

"I already love you like you are."

Adrian's lips trembled.

For the first time in his life...

He wanted to believe someone.

But before he could answer...

Every phone in the room buzzed at the exact same second.

One message.

Unknown sender.

CONGRATULATIONS.

YOU HAVE PASSED STAGE ONE.

Then another message appeared.

A live video feed.

Noah's hospital room.

A masked woman quietly walked inside...

Holding a syringe filled with clear liquid.

She smiled into the camera.

Then whispered—

May you like

"This time... I won't miss."
