CHAPTER 6 — THE DNA TEST THAT SHOCKED THE ENTIRE CHURCH

The reporters refused to leave.

No one cared about the canceled wedding anymore.

This wasn't society gossip.

This was history.

The fall of one of Charleston's most powerful families.

Julian slowly walked toward Clara.

"I know I don't deserve it..."

"But please..."

"Let me prove the truth."

Clara looked at the children.

Then back at him.

"What truth?"

"If they're mine..."

"I want the whole world to know."

Vivian exploded.

"You are not taking a DNA test in front of these people!"

Julian turned sharply.

"I wasn't asking permission."

For the first time in his life...

He had stopped being Vivian Prescott's obedient son.

Within minutes, one of the wedding guests—a respected forensic physician attending the ceremony—offered to collect cheek swabs immediately.

The samples were sealed in front of everyone.

Julian.

Emma.

Ethan.

Ellie.

Every camera recorded the process.

Vivian folded her arms.

"This proves nothing."

"The results take days."

The physician smiled politely.

"Our laboratory is twenty minutes away."

"We can prioritize emergency legal cases."

"And this..."

He looked around the ballroom.

"...certainly qualifies."

The waiting felt endless.

No orchestra played.

No guests left.

Even Brooke remained quietly seated near the back of the church.

She no longer wore her engagement ring.

Instead...

She watched Julian playing with the children.

Ellie climbed onto his lap without hesitation.

"You smell nice."

Julian laughed through his tears.

"Thank you."

"My grandpa smells like cookies."

"What do I smell like?"

The little girl thought very seriously.

"...Like someone who's supposed to know us."

Julian completely lost his composure.

He hugged her gently.

"I wish I had."

Forty-five minutes later...

The laboratory director arrived personally.

He carried a sealed envelope.

The entire church held its breath.

The physician opened it slowly.

He adjusted his glasses.

Then looked directly at Julian.

His voice echoed across the silent ballroom.

"Probability of biological paternity..."

A pause.

"...99.9999998 percent."

Gasps erupted everywhere.

He continued.

"The probability that Mr. Julian Prescott is the biological father of all three children..."

Another pause.

"...is scientifically conclusive."

Emma blinked.

She whispered to Ethan,

"Does that mean..."

The little boy shrugged.

"I think it means..."

Before either child could finish—

Julian dropped to both knees.

His voice trembled uncontrollably as he looked into the eyes of his children for the very first time.

"Emma..."

"Ethan..."

"Ellie..."

He swallowed hard.

"I don't know if you've ever wanted to say this to anyone..."

His eyes overflowed with tears.

"But..."

"...would it be okay..."

"...if I called myself your dad?"

The three children looked at one another.

None of them answered immediately.

Instead...

They all turned toward the one person they trusted most.

Their mother.

Clara.

She didn't speak.

She simply gave them a small, gentle nod.

Three little smiles appeared at once.

And before anyone could react...

All three children ran forward together.

Straight into Julian's arms.

As the billionaire father held his children for the first time, hundreds of guests stood in stunned silence.

But across the ballroom...

Vivian Prescott quietly reached into her designer handbag.

Pulled out her phone.

And sent one short message to an unknown contact.

"Activate Plan B."

No one noticed.

May you like

No one except one elderly detective standing near the back of the church...

Who had been watching Vivian from the very beginning.
