CHAPTER 6 — 'Burn Everything'

Emergency lights flickered red across the underground corridor.

A tall man in a tailored black suit stepped into the doorway.

Behind him stood four armed security contractors.

He smiled calmly.

"Mrs. Blake... you've protected those files longer than I expected."

Margaret's face lost all color.

"You..."

Adrian stepped in front of his mother.

"Who are you?"

The stranger adjusted his cufflinks.

"My name doesn't matter."

"But your father knew me very well."

He glanced toward the boxes of evidence.

"Those documents were never supposed to exist."

Adrian clenched his fists.

"You murdered my father."

The man laughed.

"No."

"I simply convinced the right people to let him die."

Margaret gasped.

For twenty years, she had believed her husband died in a tragic construction accident.

Now the horrifying truth stood only a few feet away.

The stranger raised one finger.

One of the guards ignited a small canister.

Thick smoke began pouring into the vault.

"Burn everything."

Flames raced across old shelves.

Boxes filled with evidence caught fire within seconds.

Adrian rushed toward them, desperately grabbing documents before they turned to ash.

Margaret suddenly shouted,

"The third box!"

Adrian opened it just in time.

Inside wasn't paperwork.

It was a hard drive.

A sealed flash drive.

And a handwritten note from his father.

"If you're reading this... they finally know the truth."

Before Adrian could grab everything, the ceiling exploded with the sound of sprinklers activating.

Water crashed down, slowing the fire.

The mysterious man smiled instead of panicking.

"Keep the hard drive."

"It contains exactly what I wanted you to find."

Then he disappeared into the smoke.

Adrian stared at the drive in his trembling hand.

"What does he mean?"

Margaret slowly shook her head.

"I don't know..."

But when Adrian plugged the drive into his laptop a few hours later...

Only one video appeared.

His father looked directly into the camera and said:

"Adrian... if you're watching this... don't trust your mother."
