CHAPTER 4 — The Queen Who Was Never Supposed to Return

The hospital fell into chaos.

Doctors froze in the hallways.

Nurses dropped their clipboards.

Every television inside the building repeated Prince Adrian's chilling confession.

"I promise I'll make your second death painless."

Within minutes, the recording spread across social media.

Millions watched.

Millions gasped.

But Adrian didn't panic.

He smiled.

Then he slowly began to clap.

"Very clever, Evelyn."

"You've always underestimated how much power I have."

He snapped his fingers.

The hospital lights suddenly went dark.

Emergency sirens blared.

Every screen went black.

His security team had cut the power to erase the broadcast.

But they were too late.

The video had already gone viral.

Meanwhile, hidden beneath the morgue, Margaret opened a rusted emergency exit that led into an abandoned subway tunnel built beneath the old hospital decades ago.

"We have five minutes," she whispered.

"No more."

Evelyn nodded, but before leaving, she looked back at the hospital where everyone believed she had died.

"I'm done running."

"I'm taking back my life."

The two women disappeared into the darkness just seconds before Adrian's guards smashed through the hidden storage room.

It was empty.

Adrian's jaw tightened.

"Find her."

"I don't care if you have to search every street in this country."

"No witnesses."

"No survivors."

Hours later...

Across the city, Evelyn arrived at a forgotten monastery where only one person still remained loyal to her family.

An elderly monk named Father Thomas.

He stared at Evelyn in complete shock.

"Your Majesty..."

"I buried your mother twenty years ago."

"I never thought I'd welcome her daughter back from the dead."

Without saying a word, Evelyn placed a silver ring on the wooden table.

Father Thomas's eyes widened.

"The Royal Crest..."

"You still have it?"

Evelyn nodded.

"My mother told me never to wear it..."

"...unless the kingdom had already fallen."

The old priest walked to a dusty bookshelf and pulled out an ancient wooden box that had remained locked for decades.

Inside were hundreds of sealed documents...

Bank records.

Secret wills.

DNA reports.

And one envelope marked in red ink.

OPEN ONLY IF EVELYN IS DECLARED DEAD.

Her hands trembled as she opened it.

Inside was a handwritten letter from her late mother.

The first sentence stole the air from her lungs.

"If you are reading this, Adrian is not the man who murdered your father..."

"...because your father is still alive."

Evelyn stared at the page in disbelief.

Everything she believed about her family...

Everything she believed about the throne...

May you like

Had been a lie.

To be continued...
