CHAPTER 7 — The Queen’s Final Trap

The thunder of helicopter blades drowned out the screams inside the palace.

Elite commandos poured through the shattered glass ceiling.

"Drop your weapons!"

"The King has returned!"

Benjamin Ashcroft didn't flinch.

Instead...

He smiled.

"So... Alexander finally came out of hiding."

King Alexander entered the Grand Hall wearing a military uniform instead of royal robes.

The entire nation watched the live broadcast.

For a moment...

No one moved.

Then soldiers began lowering their rifles.

Some dropped to one knee.

Others saluted their true king.

Benjamin noticed.

His perfect empire was beginning to crack.

"Arrest him!" Alexander ordered.

The commandos charged.

But Benjamin calmly raised one finger.

Suddenly...

Half of the King's soldiers turned around.

Their rifles pointed—not at Benjamin—

—but at King Alexander.

Gasps filled the palace.

General Victor Hayes stepped forward.

Everyone had trusted him for years.

He slowly removed his royal badge and tossed it onto the marble floor.

"I don't serve kings."

"I serve whoever wins."

Alexander's face darkened.

"You betrayed your oath."

Victor laughed.

"I betrayed it twenty years ago."

The commandos hesitated.

No one knew who was loyal anymore.

The palace had become a battlefield without a single shot fired.

Then Evelyn stepped forward.

"No."

Everyone looked at her.

She wasn't crying anymore.

She wasn't afraid anymore.

She walked directly toward Benjamin.

Toward the man who had destroyed her family.

Benjamin smiled.

"You've become just like your mother."

"Brave..."

"...and foolish."

Evelyn stopped only a few feet away.

"You think you've already won."

Benjamin nodded confidently.

"I control the army."

"The treasury."

"The courts."

"The government."

"What exactly do you have?"

Evelyn smiled.

"The truth."

She reached into her jacket and pulled out a small black flash drive.

Benjamin's smile faded.

"No..."

She held it high for every camera in the palace to see.

"This contains every secret account..."

"Every assassination order..."

"Every bribe..."

"And every conversation you've hidden for the past twenty years."

Benjamin laughed loudly.

"You expect people to believe that?"

Evelyn looked directly into the television cameras broadcasting across the world.

"I don't need them to believe me."

"I only need them to watch."

She pressed a button.

Every television...

Every phone...

Every giant screen across the capital suddenly switched to a live data stream.

Bank transfers.

Secret contracts.

Video recordings.

Confessions.

Benjamin's voice.

Adrian's voice.

General Victor's voice.

Millions watched the conspiracy unfold in real time.

Within seconds...

Police stations across the country began arresting ministers.

Military bases declared loyalty to King Alexander.

Government officials fled the capital.

Benjamin's empire collapsed faster than it had been built.

For the first time...

Benjamin looked afraid.

But then...

He laughed.

A quiet...

Terrifying laugh.

"You really think this was my final plan?"

He slowly removed a gold pocket watch from inside his coat.

Inside wasn't a clock.

It was a detonator.

Benjamin raised his thumb over the button.

"If I lose..."

"The palace dies with me."

Evelyn's heart stopped.

Hundreds of innocent people were still inside.

Benjamin smiled one last time.

"Choose, Princess."

"Save your kingdom..."

"...or save your revenge."

May you like

His thumb began to press down.

To be continued...
