CHAPTER 6 — The Godfather's Final Betrayal

The name echoed through the abandoned station like a death sentence.
Benjamin Ashcroft.
The nation's most beloved hero.
The man who had built hospitals, orphanages, and schools.
The man the people called "The Guardian of the Kingdom."
Evelyn's knees nearly gave way.
"No..."
"Uncle Benjamin raised me."
"He carried me after my mother's funeral."
"He taught me how to ride a horse."
King Alexander's eyes filled with sorrow.
"Exactly."
"He stayed close enough to destroy us from within."
Alexander opened an old leather briefcase that had remained hidden for two decades.
Inside were classified military files, bank transfers, surveillance photos, and one sealed DNA report.
Every document pointed to the same man.
Benjamin Ashcroft.
For twenty years, he had secretly controlled judges, ministers, generals—even members of the royal family.
Adrian had never been the mastermind.
He had simply been the perfect puppet.
"The engagement," Alexander whispered.
"The poisoning."
"The fake death."
"It was all Benjamin's plan."
"He wanted the people to mourn you..."
"...so no one would question the new government."
Evelyn stared silently at the evidence.
Every memory of her childhood suddenly felt poisoned.
Meanwhile...
Inside the Royal Palace...
Benjamin Ashcroft stood before thousands of guests dressed in a spotless white ceremonial suit.
The national anthem echoed through the grand hall.
Television cameras broadcast the event live across the country.
The announcer smiled proudly.
"Today marks the beginning of a new era."
"Lord Benjamin Ashcroft will officially become Regent of the Kingdom."
Thunderous applause erupted.
Benjamin stepped toward the royal throne.
Then...
The massive palace doors burst open.
Every head turned.
A woman dressed in black walked slowly into the hall.
Her face was pale.
Her eyes burned with determination.
Guests gasped.
Some screamed.
Others dropped to their knees.
"It..."
"It can't be..."
"Princess Evelyn?"
Benjamin stopped walking.
For the first time in decades...
The great strategist looked genuinely shocked.
He whispered only two words.
"Impossible..."
Evelyn continued toward the throne.
Every television camera followed her.
"I am Princess Evelyn Hart."
"I stand before you alive."
"And I accuse Benjamin Ashcroft of treason..."
"...the murder of my mother..."
"...the attempted murder of the King..."
"...and my own assassination."
The palace fell completely silent.
Benjamin suddenly laughed.
Slowly.
Calmly.
Then he raised both hands.
"I've been waiting for this moment."
Everyone looked at him in confusion.
Benjamin reached into his pocket and removed a small silver remote.
He pressed the button.
A hidden wall behind the throne slid open.
Dozens of armed soldiers emerged, aiming their rifles at Evelyn and the crowd.
Benjamin smiled.
"You still don't understand, my dear."
"I don't need the people's love anymore."
"I already control the army."
Just as the soldiers prepared to fire...
A deafening roar shook the palace.
BOOM!
The glass ceiling exploded.
Military helicopters descended over the royal palace.
Elite commandos rappelled through the shattered roof.
Their commander shouted through a loudspeaker:
"DROP YOUR WEAPONS!"
"THE KING HAS RETURNED!"
Benjamin's confident smile vanished.
For the first time in twenty years...
May you like
The real war had begun.
To be continued...
