CHAPTER 11 — THE FAMILY DINNER WAS A TRAP... BUT NOT THE ONE MY UNCLE PLANNED

Three days later, Daniel invited the entire Parker family to Sunday dinner.
No one found it unusual.
Family traditions rarely changed.
He smiled as though nothing had happened.
"My niece has been under so much stress," he announced while raising a glass.
"We're all proud of how she's handled everything."
Everyone applauded.
Too enthusiastically.
Halfway through dinner, Daniel stood again.
"I have one more surprise."
Two attorneys entered carrying thick folders.
Daniel smiled warmly.
"Claire, now that you've been through such emotional hardship, perhaps it's time to let the family help manage your responsibilities."
He slid several documents across the table.
Power of attorney.
Temporary voting authority.
Emergency executive delegation.
One signature from me...
And Daniel would gain effective control over Parker Family Holdings.
The room became silent.
Everyone watched.
Waiting.
Daniel even handed me a pen.
I picked it up.
Then smiled.
"You first."
He frowned.
"What?"
"I brought documents too."
The dining room doors opened.
Federal financial investigators walked inside.
Behind them came forensic accountants.
Then Victor.
Finally...
Samuel Brooks.
Daniel's smile disappeared.
One investigator placed dozens of bank records onto the table.
"We believe these belong to you."
No one spoke.
Another investigator connected a projector.
The screen displayed offshore transfers.
Forged resolutions.
Secret board approvals.
Then Victor played the recordings.
Daniel's voice filled the room.
"If Claire never discovers the trust, everything eventually becomes ours."
The silence became unbearable.
Family members slowly pushed their chairs away from Daniel.
His own sister began crying.
"You stole from us?"
Daniel looked around desperately.
"You don't understand."
"I protected this family!"
Samuel finally answered.
"No."
"You protected yourself."
Daniel reached for the documents.
The investigator stopped him.
"You'll have an opportunity to explain."
"At the federal courthouse."

For the first time in decades...
