Chapter 4 - THE QUEEN'S RETURN

Headline Hook: She Crashed Her In-Laws' Billion-Dollar Gala With 100 Bodyguards! The Fake Mother-In-Law Fainted On Stage!
The grand ballroom of the Sterling Manor was packed with the global elite. Diamond chandeliers illuminated the room, champagne flowed endlessly, and high-society aristocrats laughed and networked.
At the front of the stage stood Victoria Sterling, clad in an emerald gown, raising her glass. Beside her stood her 25-year-old son, Julian Jr., smiling arrogantly.
"Ladies and gentlemen," Victoria announced into the microphone, her voice dripping with fake elegance. "Tonight, we mourn the two-year anniversary of my beloved stepson Arthur’s passing. Though he is gone, my son Julian Jr. and I are ready to take full leadership of the Sterling Empire to guide it into a bright new future!"
The crowd began to applaud. Victoria smirked, believing her years of scheming were finally paying off. With Arthur dead and Elena missing, the multi-billion-dollar empire was finally hers.
BOOM!
Suddenly, the massive double oak doors of the ballroom were slammed open!
The loud crash silenced the entire room. The music stopped instantly.
Dozens of elite Sterling guards dressed in sharp black suits marched into the room, forming two perfectly straight lines down the center aisle. Guests gasped and pulled back in shock.
Then, walking through the center aisle, came Elena Sterling.
She was no longer wearing her modest navy employee dress. She wore a floor-length, shimmering black silk gown, her dark hair swept up, her throat adorned with the priceless Sterling Dragon Diamond—a legendary heirloom passed down only to the true matriarch of the family.
Beside her, holding her hand proudly, was little Leo, wearing a miniature tailored tuxedo.
The entire ballroom went dead silent.
"E-Elena?!" Victoria gasped, her face going ghostly pale. Her glass of wine slipped from her hand, shattering on the stage floor. "You... you're alive?!"
"Did you miss me, Victoria?" Elena’s voice rang out, crisp, clear, and powerful, echoing off the high ceilings.
"Security! Arrest her!" Victoria screamed in a panic, pointing a shaking finger. "She's an intruder! She was exiled two years ago!"
Not a single security guard moved. Every guard in the building belonged to the Sterling Group—and they all recognized the true matriarch.
Elena walked slowly up the stairs of the stage, her presence so overwhelming that Victoria’s son tumbled backward off his chair in fear.
Elena stepped up to the microphone, looking out at the shocked faces of the world's most powerful people.
"Two years ago, I left this house to grieve my husband in peace," Elena announced to the crowd. "And while I was gone, rats crept into the pantry. Parasites tried to steal what belongs to my son."
Elena turned her gaze onto Victoria.
"Tonight, Victoria hired mercenaries to attack my son on the city bridge," Elena continued, pulling out a sleek glass tablet and tapping it. Instantly, the giant projector screen behind the stage displayed the bank transfer records, wire taps, and confession videos of the mercenaries caught on the bridge.
The crowd erupted into furious murmurs!
"Is that real?!" "She tried to murder her own grandson?!" "Monstrous!"
Victoria backed away, sweating profusely. "It's... it's a lie! Fake images! You can't prove anything!"
"I don't need to prove it to you, Victoria," Elena said coldly. "I'm proving it to him."
From the shadows behind the stage, a wheelchair rolled out. Sitting in it was an elderly man with piercing grey eyes and a stern, weathered face.
It was Lord Vane Sterling—the patriarch of the family.
Victoria froze. "Vane... darling..."
Lord Vane raised a frail, trembling hand and looked at Victoria with pure disgust. "I listened to your lies for two years, Victoria. You told me Elena killed my son Arthur. But Elena just brought me the medical reports and black-box footage from Arthur's car."
Lord Vane’s voice cracked with rage. "You sabotaged Arthur’s brakes two years ago, didn't you?!"
The entire room gasped in horror!
Victoria’s knees gave out. She collapsed onto the floor, trembling violently. "No... Vane... please..."
"Guards," Lord Vane ordered coldly. "Hand Victoria and her son over to the Federal Bureau. Strip them of the Sterling name. Toss them out."
As federal agents swiped onto the stage to drag Victoria and her screaming son away, Lord Vane looked up at Elena. Tears welled in the old man's harsh eyes.
He looked at little Leo, who was standing beside Elena. Leo looked exactly like Arthur when he was a boy.
"Elena..." Lord Vane whispered, his voice shaking. "Can you... ever forgive an old fool who was blinded by grief?"
Elena looked at the old man. She knew the fight wasn't over yet. Victoria was just a puppet. The real leader of the Broken Crown Syndicate was still out there.
Elena stepped forward and placed a hand on Vane’s shoulder.
"I will forgive you, Vane," Elena said softly. "On one condition."
"Anything," Vane promised.

Elena turned around to face the entire room of elites, her eyes burning with unmatched determination.
"Give me full control of the Sterling Empire," Elena declared. "Because tomorrow... I am going to war."
