CHAPTER 3 — “Fire Her? She Owns This Place.”

Vanessa’s scream shattered the silence.
“Those papers are fake!”
Grace stood barefoot on the marble, blood still staining her fingers.
Richard’s voice turned cold.
“Then call the lawyers.”
Within minutes, the Blackwood family attorney arrived, pale and sweating. He opened the folder, checked the signatures, and looked at Vanessa like he was staring at a disaster.
“They’re real.”
A wave of whispers exploded through the ballroom.
Grace Miller—the maid everyone had laughed at—owned half of Blackwood Group.
Vanessa grabbed Richard’s arm.
“Daddy, tell them she stole it!”
But Richard pulled away.
“No. Your mother stole her life.”
Grace froze.
Richard lowered his head.
“My wife paid someone to hide your letters. She made me believe you had taken my money and run.”
The room gasped.
Grace’s eyes filled with tears, but her voice stayed steady.
“So I lost everything… because your family wanted my name erased?”
Vanessa backed away.
But then an elderly woman at the back of the ballroom suddenly dropped her glass.
Richard turned.
“Mother?”
The old matriarch, Eleanor Blackwood, stood trembling.
