CHAPTER 2 — The Helicopter That Landed for a Waitress

News spread across social media within an hour.

"Billionaire Humiliates Waitress."

Most people mocked Emma.

Some blamed her.

Others praised Adrian for "teaching employees responsibility."

Emma ignored every comment.

She finished her shift despite the burns on her neck.

When the diner finally emptied...

The manager walked over.

"You embarrassed our biggest customer."

"Pack your things."

"You're fired."

Emma didn't argue.

She quietly removed her name tag.

The only thing left in her locker...

Was an old silver necklace with half of a broken family crest.

Her mother had always warned her...

"Never lose this."

As Emma stepped outside carrying a small cardboard box...

A deafening sound filled the street.

WHUMP...

WHUMP...

WHUMP...

A sleek black helicopter descended into the parking lot.

Luxury SUVs surrounded it within seconds.

Men in dark suits rushed forward.

Everyone assumed Adrian Blackwood had returned.

Instead...

Every bodyguard stopped in front of Emma.

Then...

To everyone's shock...

They bowed.

"Miss Carter."

"We've been searching for you for twenty-two years."

The entire parking lot went silent.

Emma frowned.

"I think you've mistaken me for someone else."

One of the men carefully unfolded an old photograph.

A baby.

Wrapped in the exact same silver crest hanging around Emma's neck.

The bodyguard's voice trembled.

"Our chairman requested that if we ever found the owner of this necklace..."

"We were to protect her with our lives."

Emma stepped backward.

"This doesn't make any sense."

Another black limousine arrived.

An elderly woman stepped out.

Elegant.

Graceful.

Her eyes filled with tears the moment she saw Emma.

She whispered...

"My granddaughter..."

Emma froze.

"I don't have a grandmother."

The woman smiled sadly.

"You did."

"They stole you from us."

Across the street...

Adrian happened to stop at a traffic light.

He looked out his window...

And watched dozens of security officers surrounding the waitress he had humiliated less than an hour earlier.

For the first time that day...

The billionaire felt something unfamiliar.

Fear.

Because the family crest on Emma's necklace...

Was one he had seen before.

May you like

Inside his own company's boardroom.

Carved into solid gold.
