Chapter 6 - The Trap TightensJulian drove through the city streets like a madman, running red lights and weaving dangerously through traffic. Paranoia consumed him. Every shadow on the street looked like Eleanor; every passing car felt like a stalker.

When he crashed through the front doors of his penthouse, he found the private security guards he had hired lying unconscious on the marble floor.
Sophia was screaming from inside the locked master suite. Julian rushed to the keypad, frantically typing his master code. The heavy oak doors clicked open, and Sophia tumbled out, weeping uncontrollably.
"She was here, Julian! I heard her footsteps outside the door! She sang our anniversary song!" Sophia sobbed, clutching Julian’s coat.
Julian ran to his private study. The steel vault door hung open. Inside, his primary hard drives were wiped clean. His offshore account ledgers were missing. And resting on his leather chair was a small black tablet that suddenly lit up with a video message.
Julian crept closer, his hands shaking violently as he hit play.
On the screen was Eleanor, sitting in a sleek, high-tech command center. She was wearing a crisp dark suit, drinking black coffee, calmly reading a document.
"Hello, Julian," she said softly, looking directly into the camera. "By now, you've realized that the fragile, naive woman you married was a lie. You tried to buy three thugs to end my life for a hundred million dollars. But you didn't check my background, did you?"
The screen shifted, displaying Julian's personal banking accounts. Line by line, millions of dollars were disappearing in real-time, transferred to international humanitarian relief funds.
"By six o'clock tonight, you will be utterly bankrupt," Eleanor continued, her tone chillingly calm. "The police will receive the full audio recordings of you hiring Vector. And the board of directors of my company has already stripped you of all executive authority."

"You monster!" Julian screamed at the screen, punching the desk. "I'll kill you! I'll find you and finish what I started!"
"You're welcome to try," Eleanor smiled, her eyes flashing with cold menace. "I'm waiting for you at the old shipyard warehouse at midnight. Come alone, Julian. Or I send the murder tapes directly to the FBI."
