CHAPTER 5 — The Signature That Was Never Hers

Daniel stepped into the hospital room with terrifying confidence.

He held up the consent form as if it ended the conversation.

“You signed it yourself,” he said coldly.

Emma snatched the paper from his hand.

There it was.

Her name.

Her signature.

Her birthdate.

Everything looked real.

But something felt terribly wrong.

“I never signed this,” she whispered.

Daniel smiled.

“You were under anesthesia. You agreed before the procedure.”

Dr. Brooks immediately grabbed the document.

She studied it carefully.

Then her expression changed.

“This signature…” she murmured.

“It was traced.”

Daniel’s smile vanished.

The doctor pointed to tiny inconsistencies only a forensic expert would notice.

“The pressure changes are unnatural. Every letter was copied from another document.”

Emma stared at Daniel.

“You forged my signature?”

He took a slow step backward.

“You don’t understand.”

“No,” Emma shouted.

“I finally do.”

Security was called immediately.

But before anyone arrived, Daniel pulled a flash drive from his pocket and smashed it beneath his shoe.

“You'll never know the whole truth now.”

He walked out of the room.

Everyone believed the evidence had been destroyed forever.

Everyone…

Except an elderly hospital janitor standing silently in the hallway.

He had watched everything.

And tucked inside his old maintenance cart…

Was the hospital's forgotten backup server.
