Chapter 5 - The Trap is Set

Sienna Hayes sat in the leather-scented, high-rise office of Sarah Holloway, sipping chamomile tea from a delicate porcelain cup. The panoramic windows offered a breathtaking view of the city skyline, but Sienna wasn't looking at the buildings. She was looking at a tablet screen displaying real-time financial tracking data.

"He’s been cut off from the corporate accounts, and his personal cards were declined twenty minutes ago," Sarah said, a satisfied smile playing on her lips as she reviewed a document. "Your husband is officially stranded without a paddle, Sienna. Are you sure you want to proceed with Phase Two?"

Sienna set her teacup down with a soft clink. Her eyes were cool, resolute, and completely devoid of the hurt that had consumed her forty-eight hours ago. Pain had transformed into strategy.

"Yes," Sienna said evenly. "Derek spent eight years treating our marriage like a transaction. He thought he could trade me in for a younger model when the mood struck, while still hiding behind my domestic labor to maintain his respectable facade. I want every single penny he stole from our future. And then, I want him to taste total public humiliation."

Sarah chuckled, leaning back in her ergonomic chair. "I love working with you, Sienna. Most women come in here crying, asking if their cheating husbands still love them. You came in with a forensic audit and a blueprint for total financial annihilation."

"When you love someone, you give them your trust," Sienna replied quietly, standing up and smoothing down her sharp charcoal blazer. "When they shatter it, you protect your assets. Where is the reservation?"

May you like

"Le Jardin," Sarah grinned. "Table 4. The same booth he took his mistress to last Thursday."

Sienna’s lips curved into a thin, dangerous smile. "Good. Let's make a reservation for one."
