Marcus backed toward the doorway, his eyes darting frantically between Julian and me. "This is illegal! You set a trap!"
"You committed identity fraud when you attempted to access Hazel’s offshore trust using forged parental signatures," Julian said, motioning to the federal agents waiting in the hallway. "And because those funds are held in Swiss accounts under international jurisdiction, identity theft carries a mandatory federal extradition clause."
Two federal marshals stepped into the room, snapping iron cuffs onto Marcus Thorne’s wrists.
"Julian! Tell them to stop! I'm your brother!" Marcus screamed as he was hauled backward into the corridor, his boots dragging against the oriental rug.
Julian didn't blink. "I had a brother once. He died the day he targeted a five-year-old girl."

As Marcus was dragged down the hall, Eleanor Montgomery stood near the lobby elevator, holding a eviction notice served by the sheriff's department. Her high-society life was officially over; her assets were frozen, her home seized, and her son facing a decade in prison.
