That evening, Vance Global held its annual shareholder summit. Five thousand investors, diplomats, and business leaders filled the auditorium, waiting for Arthur Vance to announce his retirement after forty years at the helm of the world's most powerful investment firm.
Arthur stepped up to the podium, the spotlight illuminating his silver hair. The room erupted in a standing ovation that lasted nearly three minutes.
He raised his hand for quiet, looking out at the crowd with a proud smile.
