The ballroom burst into chaos, whispered shockwaves ripple-effecting through every billionaire family in attendance.
"Vance?" Sterling choked out, his knees buckling. "No... no, you're Genevieve Brooks! You worked at a small gallery! You didn't have anything!"
"I walked away from fifty billion dollars because I thought I found a honest man," I said, stopping beside my father and taking Hazel into my arms. "I gave you six years of my life, Sterling. Because your company defaulted on its interest payments this morning, Miss Vance has exercised her right to call the loan in full."

Sterling stared at the papers, his hands trembling violently. "Call it in full? That's... that's ninety million dollars! I don't have that cash!"
"Then you are in default," I said calmly. "And as of this exact second, Montgomery Global is bankrupt. The estate in Newport, your vehicles, and your personal accounts are seized."
