Chapter 15 - THE DIGITAL VAULT

Dominic hauled Victor to his feet by his expensive overcoat and shoved him hard into the wooden chair at the desk. The older man’s immaculate composure was entirely shattered, his hair disheveled, breathing heavily as he clutched his bruised throat.

"You can't touch me," Victor spat, trying to salvage some dignity. "My capital is parked in offshore servers that require my biometric key and dual-authorization codes held by Swiss trustees. If I don't check in by midnight, those accounts liquidate into global slush funds. You'll never see a dime."

Dominic looked down at Victor, then glanced over at Maren.

Maren pulled a small, modified laptop out from beneath her coat, placed it on the desk, and plugged a cable directly into a secure encrypted drive she had scavenged from Victor's pocket during the scuffle.

"You think your Swiss trustees are smart, Victor?" Maren said, her fingers flying across the keyboard with astonishing speed. "My father spent five years auditing your dummy corporations before you had him thrown in the river. He left me a backdoor into your primary server before he died."

Victor’s eyes widened in sheer, unfiltered terror. "That’s... that’s impossible. Thomas was just an accountant!"

"He was the best accountant this city ever produced," Dominic said coldly. "And you just walked right into his daughter's trap."

On the laptop screen, a bright red progress bar began to fill rapidly, wiping out Victor’s hidden offshore empire account by account, routing the billions back into the municipal trust funds for the city's docks and schools.
