Chapter 8 - The Ghost in the Warehouse

Just as Silva's finger began to squeeze the trigger, a blinding flash of white light exploded from the end of the pier.
The harsh wail of a police siren pierced the night air, followed by the deafening roar of three black-and-white cruisers tearing through the security gates with their emergency strobes spinning wildly.
Dr. Silva froze, his grip loosening on the gun. "What is this?"
"Federal marshals!" a voice boomed over a loudspeaker from the lead cruiser. "Drop your weapon! You are completely surrounded!"
Ignacio rolled over onto his back, gasping for air. Standing behind the police line, holding a secure satellite terminal, was federal investigator Elena Vance—the internal affairs officer Marina had secretly contacted two days before her death.
"You didn't think Marina only trusted one person, did you, Silva?" Ignacio panted, wiping blood from his lip.

Dr. Silva cursed viciously, turning to run toward the edge of the pier where a speedboat idled in the dark water. But before he could take three steps, a sharp crack echoed through the air. A sniper’s bullet struck the concrete directly at Silva's feet, forcing him to drop to his knees with his hands raised high in surrender.
Federal agents swarmed the dock, slamming handcuffs onto Silva and dragging him away into the back of a cruiser.
