Chapter 9 - The Return to the Nursery

Three days later, the sun broke brightly through the nursery window, casting a warm, golden glow across the fresh yellow walls.
Ignacio stood by the crib, gently rocking the wooden frame with one hand. Little April was sleeping peacefully, her tiny chest rising and falling in a steady, healthy rhythm. The red bracelet with the St. Christopher medal still rested securely on her wrist.
The federal investigation had dismantled Dr. Silva’s syndicate completely, clearing Marina’s name and exposing the hospital corruption to national news. The truth was finally out. Marina hadn't abandoned them; she had given her life to protect them, leaving behind a legacy encoded in her daughter's very veins.
Ignacio reached down, gently stroking his daughter’s soft cheek.
