Chapter 8 - The Dawn Counter-OffensiveAt 7:45 AM, the glass-walled boardroom on the fortieth floor of Whitmore Tower in downtown Manhattan was dead silent.

The emergency board members sat around the mahogany table, looking exhausted and anxious. Rumors of the engagement scandal were plastered across the morning papers, alongside wild speculations about the future of the company.
At precisely 7:55 AM, the heavy double doors swung open.
It wasn't Julian Vance who walked in first.
It was Maya Coleman, dressed impeccably in a tailored charcoal blazer and slacks borrowed from Elena’s emergency wardrobe, carrying a sleek leather briefcase. And right behind her walked Adrien Whitmore, looking entirely refreshed, wearing a sharp navy suit with an expression of supreme, unshakable confidence.
Julian Vance stood up from his seat at the end of the table, a smug, arrogant smirk plastered across his face.
"Well, well, well," Julian announced loudly for the whole room to hear. "Look who decided to show up after destroying our stock value with a household scandal. Tell me, Adrien, did you bring your cleaning girl to serve coffee, or is she your new co-CEO?"
A few sycophantic board members snickered.
Adrien didn't even blink. He walked past Julian, pulled out the primary chair at the head of the table, and sat down slowly. He didn't look at Julian at all. Instead, he gestured to Maya.
"Maya, if you please," Adrien said calmly.
Maya stepped forward, opening her briefcase and sliding a stack of crisp, perfectly organized legal documents across the mahogany table toward the lead independent director.
"Gentlemen," Maya’s clear, resonant voice cut through the tense silence of the room. "Before Mr. Vance presents his motion for an emergency leadership review, I suggest you turn to page four of the dossier currently in front of you."
Julian’s smirk faltered. He stepped forward, grabbing a copy of the document. As his eyes scanned the text—certified bank records, intercepted wire transfers, and federal subpoenas linking his Delaware shell companies to the illegal short-selling conspiracy—all the color drained from his face.
"This... this is fabricated!" Julian shouted, slamming his hands onto the table. "You can't trust anything brought in by a nobody maid—"
"Mr. Vance," Adrien interrupted, his voice cutting like a razor blade. He leaned forward, locking his piercing eyes on his cousin. "That 'nobody' is currently the primary shareholder representative of a newly formed voting bloc holding fifty-one percent of Whitmore stock—transferred legally to her trust this morning as compensation for corporate advisory services."

The boardroom erupted into stunned murmurs. Julian staggered back, his hands shaking as he stared at the papers.
"You're finished, Julian," Adrien said quietly. "Security is waiting outside. Take your briefcase and get out of my building."
