Chapter 5 - The Homecoming

Alexander found Sophia at a small, cramped apartment in a lower-income neighborhood. She looked exhausted, struggling to balance work and her sister's needs.
He didn't wear his tailored suit. He wore a simple coat. He didn't look like the billionaire they wrote about in magazines. He looked like a tired man who had lost his way.
"I read the notebook," Alexander said, standing on her doorstep.
Sophia looked at him with hardened eyes. "Are you here to sue me for something else?"
"I'm here to apologize," he said. He took a breath. "My son is fading away. You were the only one who saw him. Not the patient. Not the heir. The boy."
"He needs to keep moving, Alexander. If he stops now, he might never walk again without assistance."

"Come back," he said. "Not as a housekeeper. As his guardian. Whatever you need for your sister—take it. I don't care about the money. Just save him."
Sophia looked at him for a long time. She saw the desperation in his eyes, the cracks in the cold billionaire facade. "I'm not doing it for the money," she said. "I'm doing it because he deserves a father who isn't afraid to get his hands dirty."
