Chapter 5 - THE COURTROOM EXECUTION ⚖️

The audio recording played by the locket struck the room like a lightning bolt. The Child Protective Services agents froze, their faces turning pale as they heard the cold, aristocratic voice of Margaret Carter explicitly ordering the "removal" of the surrogate and referring to the twins as "proprietary corporate assets."

Richard Vance’s smug smile vanished. "Shut that off! That is illegal wiretapping! It’s inadmissible!"

"Step back," the lead CPS agent commanded, his demeanor instantly changing as he looked at Richard with deep suspicion. "We are suspending the extraction order until a federal judge reviews this evidence. Nobody touches these children tonight."

The tactical guards lowered their weapons. Ethan held his daughters tight, his mind racing. He had won the night, but he knew his mother would launch a total war by morning.

Three weeks later, the trial of the century commenced. It wasn't just a custody battle; it was a public execution of the Carter dynasty. The courtroom was packed to maximum capacity, with hundreds of reporters gathered outside. Margaret Carter sat at the defense table, wrapped in a white mink coat, looking entirely unbothered, as if the law were merely a minor inconvenience.

Ethan sat across from her, wearing a simple, cheap suit. He had no billions left, no high-priced PR firms, and no empire. He only had the truth.

"Your Honor," Margaret's new high-powered attorney argued, standing before the judge. "The audio recording is a deepfake, manufactured by a desperate, bankrupt man suffering from grief-induced psychosis. These children are orphans of the street, and Mr. Carter is using them to extort his mother for his lost inheritance."

The judge looked at Ethan. "Mr. Carter, do you have any definitive, untampered proof to substantiate your claims of genetic parental rights and corporate conspiracy?"

Ethan stood up. He didn't look at the judge. He looked directly at his mother.

"I do, Your Honor," Ethan said clearly. "I call my first and only witness to the stand."

The heavy oak doors at the back of the courtroom opened. The gallery gasped. Walking down the aisle, flanked by federal federal marshals, was a woman everyone believed was dead.

It was Sarah Jenkins, the surrogate.

💥 THE HOOK: Sarah’s death had been faked by Marcus Vance to protect her from Margaret's assassins. As she took the stand, she pointed a trembling finger directly at Margaret Carter. "That woman paid me to carry those babies. And when I found out she planned to lock them away in a private laboratory facility to harvest their bone marrow for her own failing health, I ran. She killed my sister thinking it was me. She is a monster!"
