Chapter 4 - THE TWISTED ALLIANCE

Hook: When the enemy of your enemy offers a hand, make sure it isn't holding a knife.
Before the second guard could pull the trigger, the glass window of the study shattered inward. A flashbang grenade detonated with a deafening roar and a blinding white light. The guard cried out, dropping his weapon as he clutched his eyes.
Through the broken window, a team of tactical operatives clad in black gear swept into the room, neutralizing the remaining guard within seconds. Julian and Elena shielded their eyes, coughing through the thick smoke.
When the smoke cleared, a woman stepped through the shattered frame. She wore a tactical leather jacket, her dark hair pulled back into a sharp ponytail. Julian’s jaw dropped.
"Seraphina?" Julian gasped.
Seraphina was Julian’s fierce business rival—a ruthless tech mogul who had spent the last five years trying to bankrupt Sterling Enterprises. She was the last person Julian expected to see saving his life.
"Don't look so shocked, Julian," Seraphina said, holstering her weapon with effortless grace. "If anyone is going to ruin you, it’s going to be me in a fair market war, not a bunch of third-rate corporate assassins and an unfaithful wife."
She walked over to the groaning Arthur, kicking his discarded gun away. "My cyber-security team intercepted the data transmissions from Victoria’s USB drive the moment she plugged it into her dress's internal transmitter. She wasn't just working with Arthur. She’s working for her brother, Damien Vance. They are planning a hostile cyber-takeover of your entire network."
Elena stood up, trembling but trying to remain steady. "They want the biometric encryption keys. Julian’s pulse and retinal scan are the only things keeping them from emptying the global reserves."
Seraphina looked at Elena with newfound respect. "Smart girl. She's right, Julian. And guess who just got released on a technicality? Your lovely bride is already on her way here with a tactical clean-up crew."
Julian wiped the sweat from his brow, his mind racing. "Why are you helping me, Seraphina? What's your price?"
Seraphina smiled, a dangerous, sharp expression. "Fifty percent of the new defense tech contract you just signed with the government. And the pleasure of watching Damien Vance lose everything. Do we have a deal?"
May you like
Julian looked at the chaos around him, then at Elena, who was looking to him for protection. He extended his hand to Seraphina. "We have a deal. But we don't wait for them here. We take the fight to them."
"Good," Seraphina said, tossing him a spare earpiece. "Because Victoria’s convoy just entered the estate gates. And she brought company."
