Chapter 3 - The InfernoâYou really thought I didnât have a tracker on your car, Nathan, darling?â Victoria mocked, aiming the weapon through the bars. âYouâre smart, but youâve always been so painfully sentimental.â

âYou killed him,â Nathan growled, stepping in front of Grace to shield her. âYou poisoned my father.â
Victoria laughed, a high, grating sound. âHe was an old fool who wouldn't sign over the voting shares. I just sped up the inevitable. And now, the tragic heir to the Cole empire will be found dead in a jail cell, murdered by his deranged, obsessive maid, who then took her own life. I inherit everything by proxy.â
She nodded to the officers. âBurn it down. Make it look like a riot.â
As the officers began pouring gasoline down the corridor, Nathanâs hand slipped to his watch. He pressed a tiny, hidden button on the side.
BOOM!
The entire exterior wall of the precinct exploded inward in a shower of brick and mortar. A black armored SUV smashed right through the rubble, pinning two of the corrupt cops beneath its massive tires.
The passenger door flew open. âGet in, boss!â shouted Marcus, Nathanâs head of private security.

Nathan grabbed Graceâs hand and pulled her through the choking dust and debris, diving into the armored vehicle just as Victoria screamed in rage and fired wildly into the smoke.
âTo the safehouse,â Nathan commanded as the SUV tore out into the night. âWe need to get Lily and disappear.â
