Chapter 7 - The Maid’s VengeanceSuddenly, the massive stained glass window above the cathedral entrance shattered into a million pieces.

A figure descended on a zip-line, crashing onto the red carpet in a shower of colored glass. It was Grace. But she wasn't wearing a maid’s uniform. She was wearing tactical gear, holding a heavily modified assault rifle.

The crowd screamed and scrambled beneath the pews. Victoria’s planted cartel guards drew their weapons, but Grace moved like lightning, disarming three of them with precise, non-lethal shots to their shoulders and knees.

“Where is my daughter, you psycho?!” Grace roared, storming up the aisle and pressing the smoking barrel of the rifle directly against the bridge of Victoria’s nose.

Victoria laughed, though her knees were trembling. “She’s at the docks, sweetie. And by now, she’s sleeping with the fishes. You’re too late.”

Nathan didn't wait. He grabbed Grace’s shoulder. “The docks! We have to go now!”

They sprinted out of the cathedral, commandeering a guest’s Ferrari parked at the valet. Nathan slammed his foot on the gas, tearing through the city streets at 120 miles per hour, swerving through traffic, desperately racing against the clock.

Please, Nathan prayed silently. Please don't let me lose them both today.
