Chapter 4 - The Empty CribThey arrived at the secret underground bunker beneath the old Cole family cabin. It was the one property not listed on the corporate ledgers.

Nathan burst through the doors, expecting to find his nanny and Lily waiting. Instead, he found the nanny unconscious on the floor, bleeding from a head wound.

The crib was empty.

Grace let out a blood-curdling scream and collapsed. “My baby! They took her!”

Nathan’s phone buzzed in his pocket. It was a video call.

He answered it with trembling hands. The screen flickered, revealing Victoria’s face. She was bruised from the precinct explosion, her eyes wide with psychotic fury. Behind her, tied to a chair and weeping, was little Lily.

“You broke my nose, Nathan,” Victoria hissed. “So I’m going to break your heart.”

“If you touch one hair on her head, Victoria, I will tear you apart with my bare hands,” Nathan roared.

“Here is the deal,” Victoria said coldly. “Tomorrow is our wedding day. You will stand at the altar in the grand cathedral. You will say ‘I do.’ You will sign the marriage certificate, transferring 100% of Cole Enterprises into our joint trust. If you refuse, or if you bring the feds, this little brat goes into the river. See you tomorrow, darling.”

The screen went black.

Grace was hyperventilating on the floor. Nathan knelt beside her, pulling her into his arms. “We are going to that wedding, Grace,” he whispered, his eyes burning with a dark, lethal fire. “And Victoria is going to wear white. But it’s going to be a funeral.”
