The morning sun broke over the estate like a blade of ice, slicing through the tall leaded windows of Adrian’s study and catching the dust motes dancing in the air. On the mahogany desk lay the final forensic audit report delivered by the federal task force. Vance-Galloway Enterprises was officially dissolved, its assets frozen and liquidated to pay restitution. Yet, as Adrian scanned the ledger, a jagged anomaly leaped out from the final page—a secondary, dormant shell company registered not in Zurich, but in the Cayman Islands under a name he hadn't heard in years: Galloway-Vance Trust.
He didn't blink. The game wasn't over. Vivienne hadn't acted alone; she was merely the front for an old, entrenched network of corporate predators who viewed multi-millionaires like Adrian as harvested livestock.
His phone rang, jarring the silent room.
It wasn't a federal agent. It was an unrecognized, encrypted satellite number.
Adrian pressed accept and brought the phone to his ear.
“You think you cleared the board, Adrian?” a distorted, synthetic voice hissed through the speaker. “Marcus and Vivienne were just pawns. You hold the keys to a vault you don't even understand. Look behind the portrait in the west gallery.”
