CHAPTER 1 — The Beggar Everyone Wanted Gone

The boardroom on the 67th floor of Sterling Global had never been so silent.
Twelve executives in thousand-dollar suits stood around the polished conference table, staring at the frail old man kneeling on the marble floor.
His clothes were torn.
His shoes barely held together.
His gray hair hung over tired eyes that looked as though they had carried decades of pain.
"Who let this homeless man into my building?" CEO Daniel Sterling shouted, pointing a furious finger at him.
Security guards hesitated.
"He refuses to leave, sir."
Daniel walked closer and sneered.
"You've got thirty seconds before you're dragged out."
The old man slowly lifted his head.
"I only came to deliver something..."
His trembling voice barely reached the walls.
The executives burst into laughter.
"A delivery?"
"What, another scam?"
"Probably looking for money."
Daniel folded his arms.
"You expect me to believe someone who looks like you belongs here?"
The old man quietly shook his head.
"I don't belong here anymore."
That strange answer made several people exchange confused looks.
Before anyone could speak again, the old man carefully reached inside his worn coat.
Immediately, security rushed forward.
"Don't move!"
Daniel's face hardened.
"I knew it. He's carrying something dangerous."
The old man slowly pulled out...
...a single sealed envelope.
Cream-colored.
Perfectly preserved.
Closed with an old red wax seal.
He held it with both hands as if it were priceless.
"This letter..." he whispered.
"...was supposed to be opened twenty-five years ago."
The room erupted in laughter again.
Daniel grabbed the envelope without permission.
"What is this? Another pathetic trick?"
The old man didn't fight back.
Instead...
...he whispered one sentence.
"If you break that seal..."
"...your entire life will change."
May you like
For the first time...
Daniel stopped smiling.
