CHAPTER 4 — The Son Who Was Never Told

Daniel's voice broke.

"My father was alive?"

The old man nodded.

"For six months."

The room went silent.

"He survived the crash," the old man said. "But the board hid him because they needed control of the company."

Daniel grabbed the table to steady himself.

"Why didn't anyone tell me?"

The old man's eyes filled with tears.

"Because your father made one final request."

He opened the notebook to the last page.

There was a name written there.

Daniel Sterling.

Under it were the words:

"Protect my son, even if he hates you."

Daniel looked up.

"Who are you?"

The old man removed an old silver ring from his pocket.

It carried the Sterling family crest.

Then he whispered,

"I was your father's bodyguard."

Daniel's face turned pale.

The old man stepped closer.

"And the night your father died..."

He pointed at the chairman.

"...I saw who pulled the trigger."
