Chapter 7 - The Empire RebuiltThree months later, the corporate world was still reeling from the fall of Vanessa Hale and the arrest of David Sterling.

Mercer Ridge Technologies emerged from the scandal stronger than ever. With the insider threat neutralized and Sterling’s illegal acquisition attempts exposed by federal regulators, Graham's company secured a historic government contract worth over two billion dollars.
The media dubbed it the "Phoenix Rise."
Inside his newly renovated penthouse office in downtown Chicago, Graham stood before the floor-to-ceiling windows, watching the sun break over the snowy skyline. His health had largely returned. The color was back in his cheeks, his energy was restored, and his hearing was sharper than ever.
He no longer took anything for granted. Every cup of coffee, every greeting, every quiet moment was savored.
A soft knock sounded at his office door.
“Come in,” Graham called out.
The door opened, and Marcus stepped inside, holding a thick stack of legal briefs. But behind him stood a familiar little girl in a bright yellow coat, clutching her one-eyed stuffed rabbit. Beside her smiled Nora, looking healthier, happier, and miles away from the terrified housekeeper she used to be.
Lily’s eyes lit up when she saw Graham. Without waiting, she rushed across the plush carpet and stopped right in front of his desk.
Graham immediately crouched down to her eye level.
“Hello, Lily,” he signed slowly with his hands, a warm grin spreading across his face.
Lily’s small fingers moved with practiced grace, replying in sign language:
“You look better. Not sick anymore.”
Graham chuckled, reaching out to gently pat her dark curls. “I’m much better, thanks to you.”
She looked down at the stuffed rabbit in her arms, then back up at him. “My rabbit says thank you for the big house in the mountains.”
“Your rabbit has good taste,” Graham replied, signing back with ease. He looked up at Nora, who beamed with tears of gratitude in her eyes.
“Mr. Mercer, we just came by to drop off the final transition papers for the Vermont foundation,” Nora said softly. “I’m starting my degree in child psychology next month.”

“That’s wonderful, Nora. You’re going to be incredible at it,” Graham said, standing up and motioning toward a small table set up by the window, where a spread of pastries and hot chocolate awaited them. “Now, who wants hot chocolate before we look at the new garden outside?”
Lily’s eyes widened with excitement, and she immediately grabbed Graham’s hand.
