Chapter 4 - The Apex Horizon ConnectionBefore Adrian could retort, the lights in the grand ballroom flickered and dimmed. The string quartet stopped playing. A sharp, piercing feedback whine echoed from the overhead sound system, instantly capturing the attention of all three hundred guests.

On the massive LED screens mounted behind the altar—screens meant to display a slideshow of Adrian and Celeste’s romantic history—the glowing pictures of the happy couple vanished.

In their place, high-resolution financial documents materialized in bold, unforgiving black text.

A collective gasp echoed through the room.

At the very top of the screen was the corporate logo of Apex Horizon Holdings—the primary financial backer of the wedding and the employer where Adrian and Celeste had orchestrated a massive corporate embezzlement scheme.

Adrian turned pale, whipping his head around to stare at the screens. “What is this? Turn that off! Someone cut the power!” he roared, lunging toward the audio-visual booth.

“Don’t move an inch, Adrian,” I whispered, stepping directly into his path so he couldn't escape the gaze of his investors and mentors. “You wouldn’t want to miss the slide show. After all, your wedding sponsors paid for every single slide.”

On the screen, transaction logs scrolled downward at a dizzying pace. Millions of dollars diverted from my late grandmother’s trust fund, funneled through shell corporations owned by Apex Horizon, and ultimately deposited into offshore accounts bearing Adrian and Celeste’s joint signatures.
