Chapter 6 - THE QUEEN OF THE ASHES

The Mind-Blowing Final Twist That Crowned the Waitress Who Knew Too Much! The rain had finally stopped over the Hudson River.
The morning sun began to bleed through the gray clouds, casting a golden light over the abandoned shipping warehouse on Pier 42. This was the meeting point. The final showdown.
The Corsican leader, a ruthless man named Vincent, stood waiting with ten heavily armed guards. Bound to a chair next to him was Camilla Russo, her face swollen from crying, her red dress torn and ruined.
"You brought the ledger, Moretti?" Vincent called out as Alessandro and Sophie walked down the center of the warehouse.
Alessandro held up a small, antique leather book—the Livre Noir. "I have it. Let the girl go."
Vincent laughed, a harsh, grating sound. "You think you are in a position to negotiate? You are outnumbered, outgunned, and out of options. Give me the book, or we paint this warehouse with your blood."
Sophie stepped forward, her voice calm and clear. "He's not negotiating with you, Vincent. I am."
Vincent blinked, looking at Sophie. "Ah, the little Dubois. The runaway princess. You think you have power here?"
"I don't think. I know," Sophie said, a cold, brilliant smile spreading across her lips. "You see, my father didn't steal eighty million dollars from you, Vincent. I did."
A collective gasp seemed to echo through the warehouse. Even Alessandro turned his head, his dark eyes widening in genuine shock.
"What did you say?" Vincent hissed.
"My father was a diplomat, but he was weak," Sophie explained, her voice dripping with venomous confidence. "He let you use him. When I realized he was going to let you ruin our family, I took the ledger. I took the eighty million. I hid it in encrypted offshore accounts that only I have the biometric keys to. My father died because he couldn't tell you where the money was—because he honestly didn't know."
She took another step closer, completely ignoring the guns pointed at her.
"I didn't work at L’Étoile Noir because I was starving, Vincent. I worked there because it was the perfect hiding place. I was waiting for the perfect partner to help me liquidate your empire. And I found him."
She glanced at Alessandro, whose shock had turned into a slow, dark grin of pure admiration.
"The ledger in Alessandro's hand is empty," Sophie revealed. "The real ledger is already in the hands of the FBI, sent from an anonymous server ten minutes ago. Every bank account, every corrupt politician, every shipping route you own in Europe is being seized as we speak. You are broke, Vincent. You have no money, no empire, and no escape."
Vincent’s face contorted in sheer panic. He reached for his phone, but before he could, a dozen red laser dots painted his chest.
From the shadows of the warehouse, fifty heavily armed Moretti soldiers stepped forward, their weapons raised.
"It's over, Vincent," Alessandro said, his voice echoing like thunder. "Drop your weapons."
One by one, the Corsican guards threw their guns to the ground. Vincent fell to his knees, his eyes hollow with the sudden, crushing realization of his utter defeat.
Camilla Russo sat in her chair, staring at Sophie in absolute, paralyzed terror. The waitress she had laughed at, the girl she had called pathetic, had just dismantled a global syndicate in a single morning.
Alessandro walked up to Sophie, looking down at her with a mixture of intensity and profound respect. He slipped his hand into hers, his fingers intertwining with hers.
"So," Alessandro murmured, a faint smirk playing on his lips. "You used me."
"I partnered with you," Sophie corrected, looking up into his dark eyes. "There is a difference."
"And what happens now, Sophie Dubois?"
May you like
Sophie smiled, her eyes reflecting the golden light of the rising sun.
"Now, Alessandro... we run this city together."
