Chapter 18 - The Final Balance Sheet

In the quiet offices of Harrison Cole & Associates high above Manhattan, the night lights of the city glittered like a sea of diamonds.
Harrison sat at his mahogany desk, the heavy leather ledger of the firm open before him.
Every major case was logged here. Every corporate victory, every federal injunction, every settlement that had shaped the legal landscape of the East Coast over the past decade.
He turned to the final page of the active docket—the file labeled HARRINGTON / KENSINGTON.
With a steady hand, Harrison picked up his gold fountain pen. He didn't write anything new. Instead, he drew a single, clean, unbroken line diagonally across the entire page, sealing the case into the permanent archives of history.
His phone chimed softly on the blotter.
It was a simple text message from Khloe: Don't work too late tonight, Harry. The stars out here are incredible.
Harrison closed the ledger. He stood up, slipped his jacket over his broad shoulders, and walked toward the floor-to-ceiling windows. He looked out over the sprawling, infinite expanse of the city below—a city full of fragile glass towers, hidden secrets, and ambitious men who thought they were untouchable.
He smiled to himself, turning off the desk lamp as the dark office settled into silence.
