Chapter 2 - The Anatomy of a Total Annihilation

Within twenty minutes, Montgomery County General Hospital looked like a federal crime scene. Harrison hadn't just called an ambulance; he had activated a private medical network, flying in two of the country's top maternal-fetal surgeons via chartered helicopter. They bypassed the emergency room triage entirely, wheeling Khloe straight into a sterilized, state-of-the-art operating suite that Harrison had essentially commandeered through a phone call to the hospital's primary board donor.

In the private waiting lounge on the fourth floor, Harrison sat in a high-backed leather armchair. He hadn't changed his blood-stained suit. Every button was still meticulously fastened, his posture rigid, his hands resting flat on his knees.

Standing before him was Marcus Vance, his senior investigator and former federal prosecutor. Marcus laid a thick manila folder on the mahogany table.

"The preliminary report from the courthouse steps is clear, Chief," Marcus said quietly, his voice measured. "Three independent witnesses, plus a traffic camera angle from the intersection, caught the entire thing. Vanessa Kensington initiated physical contact. No ambiguity. District Attorney Miller is already trying to figure out how to bury it to protect the Harrington commercial real estate contracts, but..." Marcus paused, glancing at Harrison's frozen expression. "Well, Miller doesn't know who he’s dealing with."

Harrison didn't look at the folder. His gaze remained fixed on the door of the operating room down the corridor. "District Attorney Miller has a daughter attending an Ivy League university on a scholarship funded by a discretionary trust my firm manages," Harrison said, his voice terrifyingly calm. "Remind him of that detail. Make sure he understands that an indictment for attempted murder—and potentially capital fetal homicide—needs to be filed against Vanessa Kensington before the clock strikes midnight."

"And Richard?" Marcus asked.

"Richard is mine," Harrison whispered.

For the next four hours, the hospital floor turned into a ghost town. Harrison had cleared out the entire wing. No reporters. No nurses wandering aimlessly. Just the rhythmic hum of medical machinery and the cold, unyielding presence of a man preparing to execute a legal execution.

When the double doors of the OR finally swung open, Dr. Alana Sterling stepped out, pulling off her blue surgical cap. Her face was grim, her scrubs stained.

Harrison stood up. For the first time, a microscopic fraction of vulnerability flickered in his eyes.

"Doctor?"

"We saved her life, Harrison," Dr. Sterling said softly, letting out a long breath. "She’s alive. But the trauma... the fall was catastrophic. We lost the baby. There was nothing anyone could do. Internal hemorrhaging was too severe."

The air in the room vanished. Harrison’s eyes closed for a fraction of a second. When they opened, the last trace of humanity had burned away, leaving behind a cold, calculating machine of total destruction.
