Chapter 6 - THE DAWN OF RECKONINGThe sun rose over New York City, casting a harsh, cold light across the towering glass facade of Westbridge Enterprises.

Inside the executive boardroom on the 50th floor, the atmosphere was thick enough to cut with a knife. Twenty-four members of the board of directors sat around the massive mahogany oval table, their faces grim, whispering amongst themselves.

At the head of the table sat Marcus Vance, his silver hair neatly combed, a smug, triumphant smirk plastered across his face. He leaned back in his leather chair, tapping a gold-plated pen against the polished wood. He had already secured twenty-three proxies. In less than ten minutes, Julian Westbridge would be stripped of his title, humiliated, and cast out into the corporate wilderness.

Click.

The heavy oak doors of the boardroom swung wide open.

Julian Westbridge walked in.

He didn't look like a disgraced CEO facing a hostile takeover. He wore a crisp, tailored charcoal suit, his posture impeccably straight, his stride completely unhurried. Every trace of exhaustion from the previous night was gone, replaced by an aura of absolute, terrifying dominion.

Behind him walked Marcus, carrying a heavy, secure leather briefcase, followed closely by a high-ranking corporate attorney.

Marcus Vance’s smirk widened. He cleared his throat loudly, standing up to address the room.

"Well, well. Look who finally decided to show up," Marcus announced loudly, pitching his voice for maximum dramatic effect. "Colleagues, we all know why we are here this morning. Last night, our esteemed CEO suffered a severe, public mental breakdown—throwing a temper tantrum in his own living room over a common domestic servant and an illegitimate child. Such erratic, unstable behavior is a catastrophic liability to Westbridge Enterprises. Therefore, under clause 9 of the corporate charter—"

"Save your breath, Marcus," Julian’s voice cut through the room like a razor-sharp blade.

Julian didn't even look at Vance as he walked straight to the head of the table—right past Vance’s chair—and sat down in the absolute center seat of power.

Marcus scoffed, his face flushing red with indignation. "How dare you? You arrogant little—this is a formal board vote! We have the majority of shares! You are outvoted, outmaneuvered, and finished! Security, remove this unstable lunatic from the—"

"Sit down, Marcus," Julian commanded softly, leaning back and crossing his legs.

He gestured to his attorney, who stepped forward and casually dropped a thick stack of legal documents onto the polished table right in front of Vance.

"Before you call for a vote on my mental stability," Julian said, his dark eyes locking onto Vance with predatory amusement, "perhaps you should take a look at what my private audit team uncovered in the overseas subsidiary accounts over the last forty-eight hours."

Marcus sneered, picking up the top document with a trembling hand. "What is this nonsense? You think a few fake tax evasion claims are going to save your—"

As Vance’s eyes scanned the first paragraph of the audit report, the smug color drained completely from his face. His jaw went slack, and the gold-plated pen slipped from his fingers, clattering loudly against the table.

"This... this is impossible," Vance whispered, his voice hitching as he flipped frantically through the pages. "You... you audited the Cayman accounts? How did you get access to the offshore ledgers?"

"Let's just say I have very reliable sources," Julian said smoothly, resting his elbows on the table and lacing his fingers together. "Embezzlement of corporate funds, falsifying international trade tariffs, and using company assets to finance your daughter's personal lifestyle to the tune of forty-two million dollars. That’s a minimum of twenty-five years in a federal penitentiary, Marcus."

The boardroom erupted into absolute chaos. Shouts of outrage and disbelief bounced off the glass walls as the other directors snatched up copies of the audit report, realizing they had been completely played by the Vance family.

Marcus Vance slumped back into his chair, his skin turning a sickly, pasty gray. He looked across the table at Julian, seeing the cold, unyielding wall of a man who had finally decided to unleash absolute justice.
