Chapter 6 - Showdown at Sutton’s HardwareThe bell above the hardware store door jangled violently as Daniel kicked it open, stepping into the dim interior with commanding presence. Clara stepped right behind him, and with a low, intimidating growl, Bane stalked in last, filling the small shop with an aura of pure predatory menace.

Inside, Walt Sutton was tied to a wooden chair, pale and shaking, while a slick, impeccably dressed man in a charcoal designer suit paced the aisle. Two heavily armed thugs stood guard near the counter, submachine guns resting casually in their arms.

The tailored man stopped, turning around with a chilling, plastic smile. He had sharp, snake-like eyes and a diamond pinky ring that caught the harsh fluorescent light.

"Ah," Victor Rossi purred, adjusting his cuffs. "The legendary Daniel Yellowhawk, and... well, look at the giant. The town freak who took in our stray." Rossi’s smile vanished, replaced by a sneer of pure contempt. "Hand over the dog, Yellowhawk. And hand over the collar. Then maybe I’ll let these quaint little mountain folk keep their breath."

Walt whimpered, "Clara, get out of here! It’s a trap!"

"Shut the old man up," Rossi barked at one of the guards.

The thug raised the butt of his submachine gun toward Walt, but before he could swing, a blur of solid muscle launched across the room.

Bane cleared six feet of open space in a single, terrifying bound, slamming directly into the guard’s chest with the force of a speeding truck. The man went down hard, his weapon clattering across the concrete floor as Bane clamped powerful jaws around the tactical vest, pinning him instantly.
