Chapter 7 - Blood, Steel, and RetributionChaos erupted inside the hardware store in a heartbeat.

The second thug raised his weapon to fire at Bane, but Daniel was faster. With explosive speed, Daniel closed the distance, striking the guard across the jaw with a devastating right hook that sent the man crashing into a display of heavy-duty shelving, sending boxes of nails and tools raining down in a metallic avalanche.

Victor Rossi’s face drained of color. He reached smoothly inside his suit jacket for a concealed shoulder holster, his fingers wrapping around the grip of a silver-plated pistol.

"Don't even think about it," a voice echoed from above.

Rossi froze, looking up. Clara had scaled the top of a wooden display rack with astonishing agility, standing tall and imposing. Before Rossi could raise his gun, Clara grabbed a heavy fifty-pound bag of concrete mix from the high shelf and hoisted it over her shoulder.

With a fierce grunt, she hurled the massive bag directly downward.

The heavy bag struck Rossi squarely in the chest, knocking the breath out of him with a violent, explosive impact that smashed him backward through the glass front window of the hardware store, sending shards flying everywhere.

Silence fell over the shop, broken only by the heavy breathing of the men and the low, victorious panting of Bane, who stood proudly over the subdued guard with his paws planted firmly on the man's chest.
