Chapter 7 - The Grand Exposure at the Annual GalaThrough the billowing smoke and shattered concrete of the boardroom ceiling, a heavy rappelling rope dropped swiftly into the room.

Julian Sterling slid down the rope with military precision, hitting the floor right beside Eleanor and Maya. Without a second hesitation, Julian tossed two specialized high-pressure oxygen rebreather masks over their faces.
"Breathe!" Julian commanded, pulling out a heavy plasma cutter from his tactical belt. "Sarah, breach the west-wing exit shaft! Robert is trying to make a run for the roof helipad!"
"Copy that, Boss! SWAT teams are intercepting him at the rooftop hangar right now!" Sarah’s voice crackled through the comms.
With a blinding flash of blue-hot plasma, Julian sliced through the reinforced steel locking mechanism of the hidden panic door in seconds. With a mighty kick, the door flew off its hinges, crashing against the hallway wall.
"Come on!" Julian yelled, scooping Eleanor up in a fireman’s carry while grabbing Maya’s hand with his other.
They burst out of the smoke-filled boardroom into the pristine corporate hallway. Just thirty feet away, coughing and clutching his chest as he dragged a heavy duffel bag of stolen bearer bonds, was Robert Sterling.
"Don't move!" Julian roared, leveling his sidearm straight at Robert’s head.
Robert froze, turning around slowly with a look of absolute desperation. He dropped the duffel bag, his hands shaking as he raised them in surrender.
"You... you can't do this," Robert stammered, backing up against the glass railing of the fifty-fifth-floor atrium. "I’m a partner! I have rights!"
"Your rights ended twenty years ago when you helped murder my daughter," Eleanor said coldly, stepping forward with the oxygen mask pulled down around her neck, her eyes blazing with absolute fury.
Before Robert could reach into his jacket pocket for a hidden backup detonator, Julian lunged forward like a striking panther, tackling Robert to the floor and slamming steel handcuffs around his wrists with brutal efficiency.
Three nights later, the grand ballroom of the Astoria Hotel was once again packed to the brim. But this time, it wasn't just a corporate banquet—it was a televised global broadcast watched by over two hundred million people worldwide.
The massive screens lining the ballroom walls played the unedited confession footage of Robert Sterling and Marcus Vance detailing every single crime, cover-up, and conspiracy from the past twenty years. The live feed also broadcasted their immediate transfer to federal prison under heavily armed guard.
In the center of the stage stood Eleanor Vance. Beside her, wearing a breathtaking midnight-blue silk gown that matched the exact color of the dress Eleanor’s daughter Claire had worn twenty years ago, stood Maya Vance.
The applause was deafening. Flashbulbs blinded the room as the high-society elite, politicians, and global partners stood up in unison, giving a thunderous, emotional standing ovation to the true heir of the Vance Empire.
Eleanor stepped up to the microphone, her voice steady, powerful, and echoing with the finality of a new era.
"Twenty years ago, an attempt was made to extinguish the light of my family," Eleanor spoke, looking directly into the camera lens that broadcasted across the globe. "They thought they buried my daughter and my granddaughter in ashes and lies. But truth has a way of returning home."

She turned, taking Maya’s trembling, proud hand in her own.
"Ladies and gentlemen, I proudly present to you the new CEO and sole heir of Vance Global: my granddaughter, Lily Vance."
