You broke your routine. You stepped out of my shadow, and their spotters caught it. They’ve been tracking your movements for three weeks, waiting for you to leave this building unprotected. They thought you were walking out on your own terms. You were actually walking right into their crosshairs."
I stared at him, the color draining completely from my face. The legal papers sitting neatly in the ivory envelope suddenly felt less like an exit strategy and more like a death warrant.
